Medical Support

The mind/body connection has long been recognized as a key factor in the success of prescribed medical and dental treatment.

Research shows that hypnosis can help you achieve natural pain control, accelerate the healing process, and increase your immune system response, as well as help you relax before, during and after procedures.

Hypnosis is a completely safe and natural technique which allows you more control in promoting your own health and healing.

Pain:

Studies show that when we fear pain we often wind up suffering more intense pain, partly because of the involuntarily muscle tension that accompanies the fear itself.

Since 1995, the National Institutes of Health has recommended hypnosis to alleviate the chronic pain associated with arthritis, TMJ, back pain or migraines. Hypnosis provides a natural way to help the mind reframe its response to chronic pain and help you rediscover comfort in your own body again.

Health Concerns:

Hypnosis is an effective treatment for chronic problems intensified by stress such as irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, and ulcers. In fact, the American Journal of Gastroenterology published a report acknowledging that hypnotherapy has been shown to provide long term reduction of symptoms and improved quality of life for adult patients with irritable bowel syndrome.

I use hypnosis to help you reduce, even eliminate the symptoms, the frequency of occurrence and the discomfort associated with these conditions.

Surgery:

Hypnosis can greatly ease anxiety about surgery and speed post operative healing. In 2007, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that women who used self-hypnosis before breast cancer surgery had less pain, nausea and fatigue following surgery.

I work with you before and after surgery to help you program your mind and body to anticipate a positive outcome and a fast recovery. And because even under anesthesia, patients register what’s going on in the operating room, I provide a recording to listen to during surgery to keep your subconscious mind calm and focused on healing.

Natural Childbirth:

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy have been used for generations to naturally reduce discomfort during labor. In 2004, the British Journal of Anesthesia reported results of a study showing that women who were hypnotized prior to childbirth reported considerably less pain than those who weren’t. Hypnosis transforms that tendency to “brace” against the pain which actually just intensifies it.

I teach the Blissborn natural birth program which trains both the expecting mom and her partner to use hypnosis to create the type of birth experience they want.
